More than 40 volunteers from Second Baptist Church spent Saturday, April 2 giving The Mission a “Spring Make Over”! Projects included building a wheelchair ramp outside our pantry door, patching up a big pothole, planting beautiful shrubbery, power washing and painting. It was a great day, and we want to thank Bill Bruss and his teams who gave up their day to make it all happen.

Pastors Appreciation Breakfast
The Mission Board and staff welcomed 26 area pastors to breakfast on March 30. It was a great time of renewing old friendships and building new ones. Several pastors are new to the area, and enjoyed their first tour of our facility. The Mission is greatly blessed by the generous and faithful support of many denominations and churches.

As part of the training for our students who are enrolled in the Project Independence program (through a generous grant from the United Way and in cooperation with Lone Star College) Mission Northeast invited four local professionals to meet with students individually and provide a "mock" interview for a future position in their career field. The four interviewers were Freedia LaPage, Director of Development at Kingwood Pines Hospital; Dina Suciu, RN and owner of ATC Healthcare; Tony Robinson, Sr. Recruiter Memorial Hermann NE; and Charles Burton, Owner of Partner Electric Co.

Montgomery County United Way has awarded a two-year grant to Mission Northeast in New Caney to continue a program called “Project Independence.” This marks the second time Mission NE has received this grant. The first grant, awarded in 2006, helped improve the lives of people in 68 households. Read more...

Mission Staffers Pam Dickson and Brenda Soley gather with East Montgomery County Improvement District (EMCID) friends who just shopped for The Mission's Christmas, filling 7 shopping baskets with gifts galore for needy children and their parents. The Mission will help more than 330 families this year with Christmas food and gifts.
