Press Release 02/02/10

Tuesday February 2, 2010 was the official 100 th day of school! Rachel Morris is in Mr. Vybiral's kindergarten class at Bear Branch Elementary. Rachel, 6 years old, needed to collect 100 items to share with the class. Rachel took it one step further and wanted to help the community. With her mother's help Rachel then sent email requests for help and donations. The emails were sent to friends, family, church members, PTA members, dance team, piano teacher and her classmates asking for their support. Even a few guys from Dad's office donated coats. Mrs. Harris from Palais Royal in Deerbrook Mall even helped Rachel by giving her a discount and purchasing some coats personally to help Rachel meet her goal. Rachel accomplished her goal and collected 100 coats! Then more kept coming! The support was amazing! Rick & Alicia Lindholtz were the first to give Rachel a coat and The Day Family were the last. A bunch of friends and family sent cash and checks and Rachel spent all the money buying new coats. After 170 she stopped counting but her parents, Carlos & Jennifer Morris, guessed she was close to 300 coats. Rachel helped our community by donating the coats to Mission Northeast.
