Summer Programs
Summer Program | Mission: Possible!
Mission: Possible! is a six week academic Vacation Bible School for children whose parents are Mission NE clients. Our purpose is to serve Christ by serving them. Our primary goal is to introduce them to a relationship with Jesus Christ while helping them review and learn academic principles.
Mission: Possible 2010 was great sucess, with an average of 65 students and 10 leaders each day for 7 weeks. This year’s theme was “Body, Mind, Soul and Spirit”, and The Mission was indeed, filled with a lot of spirit!
Students 1st-8th grades participated in math, reading, drama, music, science, writing, dance, and much more. They each received Bibles and memorized verses, growing in faith. Each student received backpacks, school supplies and special recognitions at the celebration party on July 22, which was hosted by our friends from Kingwood Bible Church. This was definitely our best graduation party ever, as these talented volunteers made 7 different cakes, one for each team color – red, purple, green, yellow, aqua, pink, and blue! A very special thanks to funders who made this year’s program possible: Second Baptist Church, Kingwood United Methodist Church, Kingwood First Baptist Church, Humble Area First Baptist Church VBS, Matthew Watts (Eagle Scout Project), and many others whose financial and other support made this the best MP ever! Hugs for leader Giselle Ates and her leadership team who were so organized and worked hard made it all happen!
Feed My Lambs did a terrific job this summer with MP lunches! The FML teamsprepared sandwiches, pizza, fish sticks, mac and cheese, spaghetti, barbeque, and much more! For 7 weeks of MP lunches we thank St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, National Charity League, Kingwood, Kingwood Christian Church, First Presbyterian Church
Kingwood, Kingwood United Methodist Church, Strawbridge United Methodist Church, and NCL, Livable Forest. Our other summer FML partners continue to prepare and deliver lunches twice a week to White Oak Apartments. Feed My Lambs first started in the Mission kitchen during Mission Possible 2002. Nine years later FML is still going strong 51 weeks a year thanks to our faithful and wonderful partners!
